Chili
- Ingredients:
- 2 lbs lean ground beef, chopped steak, or chopped pork (or a combination thereof)
- 1 carrot, chopped
- 1 stalk celery, chopped
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1/2 bell pepper, chopped
- 1 15 oz can each kidney beans and pinto beans
- 1 8 oz can tomato sauce
- 1 14 oz can diced tomatoes
- 1 small can diced green chiles
- 1 12 oz can beer
- 2 tbsp light molasses
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 tsp salt, or to taste
- 1 tbsp powdered garlic or 2 to 3 cloves fresh garlic
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 6 tbsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp oregano
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/8 tsp cinnamon
- 2 bay leaves
- 1/2 tsp thyme
1. Brown beef. Add vegetables and sauté until softened.
2. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 1 hour.
3. Serve with cornbread.
