Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs
- Ingredients for Meatballs:
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
- 3 tbsp minced onion
- 2 eggs, cracked and lightly beaten
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp dried parsley
- 1/4 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp salt, or to taste
- 1/4 tsp Crystal hot sauce
- 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Ingredients for Sauce:
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/3 cup chopped bell pepper
- 2 14.5 oz cans diced tomatoes
- 1 8 oz can tomato sauce
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Dash cayenne powder
- 1/4 tsp oregano
- 1 bay leaf
1. Mix ingredients for meatballs together and shape into 20 small balls. Fry meatballs in a large skillet over moderate heat until brown on all sides. Set meatballs aside on a plate.
2. Sauté onion and bell pepper for sauce. Stir in remaining sauce ingredients. Add meatballs to sauce and simmer covered for 1 to 1-1/2 hours.
3. Serve over cooked pasta of your choice.
